It has been a looooooooooooong day!!!! Not sure how many ‘Ns’ & ‘Gs’ I should put in. Got up at 5 after a good night’s rest. I am not sure if 5 hours is a ‘good night’s rest’ but that is how goes. We left the hotel at 5:45 and the ‘silver lining’ in getting up this early is that the traffic was light. Got to the bus station in 10 minutes or so. The bus was very nice and we arrived in Yaounde at about noon. Oh, before you totally freak out regarding the picture on the right; the bus on the far left is not moving. Light rain on the way but no problems. I had a good breakfast of Plantain Chips. They are delicious and very healthy! We changed vehicles and left about 1. In order to maintain my healthy eating, I had Ginger Snaps as my main entrée and washed it down with Tampico. As you can see below; it is irresistible! Then for desert had a Mars Bar so I was in good shape. The road to Bertoua is a Tar Road (Asphalt) all the way. Was not always that way so the road was enjoyable. Tomorrow the road all the way to Yokaduma will be either dirt or mud. I am praying for dirt! We arrived at 7 and went to a store primarily to get water for tonight and tomorrow. Had a good supper with Paul (Jean Claude’s brother) and his lovely wife Rose. We will come back and work in Bertoua early next week. We discovered that the hotel we are staying out is booked next week for a seminar so we had to go hunt another hotel for Monday and Tuesday and were successful. I am not unpacking since it will be just one night. We will stay in 8 different hotels on this journey so we will never be able to unpack and relax. That is OK because we are praying for many souls.
Good news: I don’t have to get up until 5:30 in the morning! I wish I had GREAT news but I do not. You can never tell about the road to Yokaduma regarding the level of mud or whether you will get stuck or a big truck gets stuck which messes up everyone. I plan to Skype with Charlie Brown and Grandma in a few minutes and will get to bed fairly early. Thanks for your continued prayers.
