Let me begin by stating that I do not do a good job of even thinking about taking pictures; much less taking them. I thought about taking a picture of Jean Claude & Mary and Louis & Linda Bassay but never did. OK; there is my confession of the day. The photo below is from June of 2004. We are somewhere on the English side and Jean Claude is giving the ‘thumbs-up’ to the taxi that he is going to make it. It is possible that we will have some of this on the road to/from Yokaduma. I have enough of those memories so hopefully I will not add any such stories to my repertoire. One piece of bad news: Jean Claude informed me that we have to leave the hotel at 6 in the morning to get the 6:30 bus to Yaounde. That means a 5am wake-up.
I slept well and got up at 8:45. Jean Claude had assured me that he would definitely be here by 10:00am but he has this thing called a track record so I would be in the morgue right now from a heart attack if he had arrived on time. He arrived around 10:30 or so which was fine. We did a couple of small things and then went to a nice grocery store to get some things for the journey. We then came back and dumped them and went to eat. Mary, Louis and Linda were able to be with us and we had a delightful time. The first highlight of the day was riding a machine back from the restaurant. As I have told you a number of times before; I smile a lot on machines because the traffic is a hoot. If my sweet sister-in-law Ellen was here and she rode a machine it would be a combination of covering her eyes and screaming! Actually, I believe if she gave it a shot she might become the first woman machine driver in Douala. If there are any who do this for a living, I have not seen them. I was also blessed to ride to and from Bible class with Martin. He is a delightful young man. During the afternoon I packed for tomorrow and did some stuff on the computer. Was able to get email caught up and looked at a few things on the internet that are taking place around the world.
I thoroughly enjoyed Bible class tonight. There are many from the English side that are worshipping with many different French congregations. Oh, while I am thinking about it I still did not get to bed until after midnight last night. I thought around 7pm that I was in great shape but stuff keeps coming up. I was able to Skype with Charlie Brown and Linda which was great and I will try again in a few minutes.
Thanks for all of your prayers. I assume I will be able to use the internet in Bertoua and Yokaduma.
