Dear All:

BTW; to those of you who are receiving these missives for the first time; don’t get your hopes up because it is basic nonsense for the most part. Hopefully you will get some flavor of the trip.

Right to it. Got up at 5:30am as Bapp (our wonderful daughter) was to pick me at 7:15 to head to DFW. She was basically on time and we had no problems. Some patches of minor traffic slowdowns on George Bush but still got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. When I got in it almost looked like a ghost town. Got right up to the counter, checked bags and received my 3 boarding passes. Got inside and ate breakfast at Chick-fil-A. Got to my gate and did some reading. Boarded on schedule and flight was smooth. I was able to Facetime with Linda but the Skype was not working on my phone. I think once I get to Cameroon the Skype on my computer will work because our fantastic Youth Minister checked it out about 10 days ago. We are scheduled to leave in about 90 minutes and the flight to Paris is roughly 8½ hours. Looking forward to a GREAT meal on the plane. To Kerry (a sweet girl who has been doing some physical therapy with me); no dizziness since I saw you last week! Please continue to keep Linda in prayer while I am gone. Will write more in Paris and then in Douala before sending this. Regarding the pictures below; on the left are two of our GREAT grandkids with KB on the left and Alex on the right. This picture is about 3 years old. Then you have another of our grandkids, Charlie Brown with me. Most of you know that he really is not our grandkid but a 9-year-old that Linda has babysat since he was 6 weeks old. We consider him part of the family and our son-in-law Dean considers him to be a full-fledged member. Thanks for all of your prayers!

5:20pm 4:20pm CST

Nothing earth shattering to report. Boarded and took off on time. Wait; that first line was wrong because I was able to have a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious meal on the plane. Of course, when you talk of a meal and plane in the same sentence you have to use the word deeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! I have read some and plan to watch a movie and then try to sleep. I will meet Richard and Lori at the gate on our way to Douala. We still have 6 hours of flight followed by a 4 ½ layover followed by another 6 ½ hours. That last sentence made me tired!

If you fly very much you realize that if you have a tight connection your incoming flight is oftentimes late so you have to really scurry. Well I was supposed to land @6am with the layover I mentioned above and we landed early. Was able to get a bulkhead seat so I will have some extra legroom which is very nice on a long flight. Flew through security so here I am with 4 hours to kill. I have been traveling to Africa for 30 years and the technology is fascinating. I am in the airport with my DVD player being charged, my Cameroon phone being charged and my computer plugged in so I have full life and do not need to use my battery. On the flight I was able to read and sleep either 2 or 3 hours. Richard and Lori are supposed to land at 7:25 so if they are on schedule, I should see them in 90 minutes or so. I am fixin to go over some of my seminar material. Will probably write some on the flight to Douala and possibly before I send it tonight. Actually, you will receive it tomorrow morning.

4:00pm-9:00am CST

I was so tired that I skipped lunch. When I miss an airplane meal on purpose, you know I am tired! I did a bunch of stuff this morning before heading to the gate. On my way I saw Richard and Lori looking at a $30,000 Rolex. They decided it was a bit too expensive. We had breakfast together and enjoyed getting caught up. Boarded on time and took off on time which is not the norm out of Paris. It looks like we should land on schedule which is a little over an hour. If you have ever flown internationally you know there are monitors that tell you how far you have gone; what your air speed is; what your altitude is and your arrival time. Well, either the pilot is going around in circles or the arrival time on the monitor is way off. I am opting for the former. On behalf of Richard, Lori and myself; thanks for your prayers.

In Christ,
Jim Corner
