Due to the lateness of the hour and the fact that I have to get up in 6 hours to prepare for a morning of worship; this HOWDY will be short. GOOD NEWS: Don’s luggage arrived! That is why I am so late. The flight today did not land until 10:20 pm so we were at the airport and it finally came out around 11:35. At least traffic is not bad this time of night!
Let me hurriedly try and sum up the day. Got up at 8 or so after another good night’s rest. This will be my last day to sleep in for the next few weeks. Don came down and we visited for a while. It is so good to have him on the team. Jean Claude was supposed to be here at 11 and the “imposter” from two days ago, did not show up as he arrived promptly at 11:30. I think he should be concerned that he has a ‘twin’ running around. We went to lunch and had a great time. Just before we arrived at the restaurant I remembered I had forgotten something. You see, I was going to have a salad of only lettuce, tomato and egg. In addition, I was going to add some tuna that I brought from the States so I was forced to climb a machine back to the hotel. Well, force may be too strong of a word. Afterwards we went to buy Don some pants and shirts in case his luggage did not arrive. We could not take that gamble as he will be preaching in the morning and if he entered the hall in shorts; they would put him out! Then went to a store to buy some grub (my spellchecker says that grub only has one B) for both Douala and Kumba. Our choices are quite limited in Kumba. I know that those of you who have been reading from me for many years are ‘licking your chops’ to get a new recipe from me and tomorrow I will not disappoint. We then came back and started putting name tags together for the seminar. Then went down for supper and afterwards Jean Claude came up to watch some futbol. After about 5 minutes Don said: I now know why I don’t like futbol because there is no scoring. Sure enough; after nearly 85 minutes of running up and down and accomplishing only two things: 1) getting winded and 2) getting sweaty someone finally scored so the final score was 1-0. If anyone at Buckingham can get this part of the blog to Bryan Rendon; please do so. He is one of these guys that enjoys watching people run and run and kick and kick with nothing to show for it. I will admit that Bryan “rocks” but not in the area of futbol. There he has ‘rocks’ in his head! At 10:00pm we took a car to the airport. They would only let Don inside the luggage area so Jean Claude and I stood patiently (not sure if patiently is the right word) for him to come out and we were really happy when he did. Oh, I forgot to tell you that Linda Skyped us earlier and was able to talk to Louise (she was using my computer) and Don and Jean Claude. Jean Claude said some libelous things about me but I know my precious wife knows that he was only blowing hot air. I got a quick shower and once I send this: I will hit the sack. I have a few pictures but will send them later. Thanks for your prayers. Please continue to pray that the strike will be solved.
