Had a good day today and am feeling 100%. Thanks to all of you who have been praying for me. Today we had 38 men as opposed to 35 last year; 36 women as opposed to 37 last year and 42 in the afternoon as opposed to 55 last year. Here was the day:
Got up at 6:45 after another good night’s rest. Nothing out of the ordinary. Richard and I hopped machines at about 8:10 to go to the hotel where the sisters are meeting. Had to give Lucy ‘taxi money’ for the sisters. I got some really good video today on the back of machines. When I get back my report may completely deal with riding machines. I have one neat one where we are on the wrong side of the road swimming upstream. Salmon have nothing on these drivers! After we got to the hall Jean Claude needed me to go back to the hotel to collect some candy for the sisters. I was obedient and when I got in my room I could hear a noise from my Fridge. It was a Snickers inviting me to dine! Well, against my better judgment I did. Really didn’t want to as I felt bad knowing that my comrades were sweating at the church hall while I was in front of a cold A/C. Oh well! Dropped the candy with the girls and then got back to the hall. Richard rode home with Martin as I had three meetings. While I am thinking about it: after the first meeting Louis said he was going to collapse from lack of food and I did not eat anything until 7 tonight and I did just fine. These youngsters are a bunch of wimps. Please pray regarding the first meeting. It dealt with a preacher named Justin who has been disfellowshipped. I have known him for many years and he is an incredibly talented young man. The problem is that he has one thing that trumps talent and that is pride. Time will tell if he repents. I met with him and 3 other brothers to encourage him. The next two meetings were with preachers and one of them is in a small church that we established about 6 years ago. It still numbers about 10 and if things don’t change, we will have to stop the preacher’s support as it is hard to justify his salary. The fault is not his but this is a very hard ground. The last meeting was with Jean Claude’s brother Paul. He is doing an excellent job in Bertoua. It was then time to teach my class and it went well. Climbed machines back home and got here with no problems. If we had taken taxis we would still be on the way home! Ate supper in Richard’s room and the food was delicious! Richard’s stomach was bothering him so please pray for him. I have already showered and Skyped my lovely bride. I am fixin to relax a bit and then hit the sack. The picture on the left below is of the afternoon class. The one on the right shows that even they do not want cell phones on during class. In Kumba Jean Claude made an announcement that if any phone went off it would be taken and placed in the preacher’s office until Friday. I really think he was just blowing smoke! I was talking with one brother and sister this afternoon and they were talking about their middle son and his prayers with the family. He confesses all right in front of his parents: “Father, I am sorry that I hit the boy today. I am also sorry that I punched another friend. I didn’t do what the teacher said and I am sorry for that as well.” Man, if I would have done such confession when I was a kid you would not be reading this because I would have gone to be with the Lord a loooooooooooooong time ago!
Thanks for your continued prayers.
